1989年の誕生以来、金閣寺、清水寺、平等院、東大寺など、日本屈指の名刹を舞台に開催されてきた奉納コンサート「OTOBUTAI」。
これまで世界で活躍する200を超えるアーティストたちが、唯一無二のパフォーマンスを披露してきました。
今年の舞台は、開山800年の節目を迎える皇室ゆかりの御寺、泉涌寺。
「諸宗兼学」の伝統を受け継ぐ泉涌寺には、古くから多様な宗派の祈りが息づいてきました。
異なる教えが響き合う、泉涌寺の祈りのかたちに寄せ、今年は「間」をテーマに舞台を紡ぎます。
800年前から境内に泉が絶えることなく涌き続けるこの聖地で、一夜限りの幻の舞台が幕を開けます。
Launched in 1989, OTOBUTAI is a unique dedicatory concert series held at some of Japan’s most revered
temples, including Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera, Byodoin, and Todai-ji. To date, more than 200
internationally acclaimed artists have delivered singular and unforgettable performances.
This year, the stage comes to Sennyu-ji, the imperial temple known as Mitera, as it marks the
800th
anniversary of its founding.
For centuries, Sennyu-ji has embraced the spirit of Shoshu Kengakua tradition that welcomes and
learns from diverse Buddhist teachings. Inspired by the way different paths of faith resonate within
this sacred place, this year’s theme is “Awai”: the in-between space.
At this sacred site, where a spring has flowed continuously for eight centuries, a mythical stage
unfolds for one night only.

間 Awai
「あいだ」のようにふたつを隔てる境界ではなく、
ふたつの世界が出会い、重なり、響きあうことで、
境界がゆるやかに溶け合うところ。
それが「あわい」です。

but a realm where two worlds meet, resonate, and intertwine.
In that meeting place, distinctions soften and boundaries gently fade.
This is Awai.
「あいだ」のようにふたつを隔てる境界ではなく、
ふたつの世界が出会い、重なり、響きあうことで、
境界がゆるやかに溶け合うところ。
それが「あわい」です。

あわいに涌く、泉の物語。
それは、異なる教えを分けるのではなく、受け入れ、響き合わせる祈りのかたちです。
過去・現在・未来を見守る三世仏のもと、多様な祈りが重なり合ってきた泉涌寺。
門をくぐり、坂道の参道を降りていくと、俗界から聖域へと静かに身を委ねていくような感覚があります。
天と地。現在、過去、未来。生と死。
夢と現。
そのあわいに、800年ものあいだ絶えることなく泉が涌き続けてきました。
一滴の祈りが波紋となり、誰かの祈りと重なっていくように。
出会い、響き合い、静かに重なっていく。
今年のOTOBUTAIは、そんな「間」の物語を紡ぎます。

Under the watch of the Three Buddhas—guardians of the past, present, and future
countless prayers have converged at Sennyu-ji throughout the ages.

Past, present, and future.
Life and death.
Dream and reality.
Between them, a spring has sprung forth for eight hundred years.
Like a single prayer becoming a ripple, joining with the prayers of others.
